“When the beloved teachers of the Arcadia Performing Arts Academy make a sudden decision to leave the school to pursue their dreams of rising to stardom, the heart-broken students of APAA decide to set off on a journey to discover why, and to also ensure that the teachers return to teach at the famous performing arts high school.

It’s the first day back after the March Break and the students return to school only to find out that their favourite teachers - Mr. Thomas, Mr. Bailey and Ms. Herres, have all left the school for good, and are pursuing their artistic careers in Los Angeles - ‘The Entertainment Capital of the World’. The students cannot understand how the teachers could have left without even as so much as a parting word, especially seeing that this is the kids’ graduating year.

Collectively, they decide to set off and travel to ‘Tinseltown’ to find the teachers, get some answers from them and try to convince them to return for this important graduating year. Knowing that their parents and the school administration would try to stop them, they make their plans as a covert operation.

Once in Los Angeles, the students lose themselves and become overwhelmed with the sights, sounds and movie history of the city. They discover why Los Angeles is often called La-La Land, a place that is fun and a little out of touch with reality.

In searching for answers from their teachers, the students begin to understand life a little better. They learn that life does not always make sense and doesn’t always go the way you want it to, but by placing trust in yourself, you can make sense of ‘this crazy little thing called life’. Armed with a better understanding of the world and themselves, they find their beloved teachers and convince them to come back to see the students’ graduation day from APAA.

The final installment of a trilogy about kids attending APAA, What is Life? completes a story that began with Believe and moved forward to Project Broadway. Join this talented cast of performers from Arcadia Academy of Music in Woodbridge, along with some seasoned professionals, as they perform well-known musical numbers from movie soundtracks and pop repertoire, accompanied by a live band.
