Belmont World Film and the Friends of the House of Hope Shelter are pleased to co-present the Middle Eastern drama A Bottle in the Gaza Sea starring Hiam Abbass (Rock the Casbah, The Visitor). French director Thierry Binisti takes a rigidly nonpartisan view of the Israeli-Palestinian situation in this drama about a 17 year-old Israeli girl who develops an email relationship with a 20 year-old boy in Gaza after he finds her message in a bottle on the beach in Gaza. Set in 2007 and unfolding over a single year, the two begin a search for common ground despite their uncommon circumstances. the film portrays a simplistic but heartfelt engagement with war as experienced by those still growing into their opinions and allegiances.

Partial proceeds from the event benefit the Massachusetts based Friends of the House of Hope Shelter, Inc., which supports the human rights work undertaken by Dar Al Amal ("House of Hope"), the Lebanese non-denominational and non-governmental organization that engages in prevention, as well as rehabilitation and social reintegration of children, young girls and women in extremely challenging economic, social and familial situations.

The Friends of the House of Hope Shelter will accept additional donations at the door.
