Directed by Ivan Sen
2016 | 110 min. | Australia | English & Mandarin with English subtitles | New England premiere

In this western noir, wrapped inside a story about protecting the sacred ground of Australia’s native people, director, cinematographer, writer and composer Ivan Sen follows up Mystery Road with a standalone story about aboriginal Detective Jay Swan. When Swan arrives in a frontier mining town on a missing person’s inquiry, a simple light duty investigation opens a web of crime and corruption implicating the mining boss, the mayor, and the Aboriginal Land Council. The film features David Wenham, who played John Brierley in the Oscar-nominated Lion and aboriginal actor David Gulpilil, who began his career in film in Walkabout and who wrote and starred in the multi-award winning Charlie’s Country.

Speaker: Director Ivan Sen via Skype.
