An exploration of tradition and sexuality set amid South Africa’s Xhosa culture. A lonely factory worker joins other men in his community for an annual two week journey in the mountains to initiate a group of adolescent boys into manhood. His entire existence starts to unravel when a defiant initiate discovers his well-guarded secret. South Africa’s submission and on the short list for the Academy Awards’ Best Foreign Language Film.
