A Kurdish shepherd’s wife, who is accused of having an affair by her in-laws, flees to Belgium with her 9-year-old daughter. Believing in his wife’s innocence, the shepherd defies his father and extended family and follows the two to Belgium, only to be plagued by doubts.
Speaker: Dr. Kajal Rahmani, a native of Kurdistan province in Iran and a social-cultural anthropologist who specializes in gender, ethnicity, religion, education, and politics in Mesopotamia, including Kurdistan. She is also founder and director of the Kurdistan Justice and Peace Academy, which supports Kurds around the world by providing health care and education. Most recently she was a senior research fellow in the Near Eastern Languages and Civilization department at Harvard University and a professor in the anthropology department at Boston University.
