Alice by Heart is a musical by Steven Sater, Jessie Nelson, and Duncan Sheik that reimagines Alice's Adventures in Wonderland during the London Blitz, where two friends, Alice and Alfred, escape the war by journeying into the book, exploring themes of first love, loss, and imagination. The show, with music by Duncan Sheik and lyrics by Steven Sater, premiered Off-Broadway in 2019 after being commissioned by London's National Theatre in 2012. It's known for its pop-rock score and "darkly whimsical" tone, blending the chaos of war with the fantasy of Wonderland
