For the Love of Lee provides support and fundraising for families with ill children through tax deductible donation and assistance from volunteers. At this time we are hosting a concert called, Lullabies for Lorraine, to assist the Street family with ongoing medical costs for their 9 month old daughter, Lorraine, who has had heart surgeries since she was 6 days old and has ongoing medical issues with overwhelming financial burden. Our goal is to raise $10,000 at the event.
Lorraine was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) which is a severe congenital heart defect meaning she was born with only half a heart essentially because her left ventricle is so little it is non-existent. She has a secondary birth defect called Heterotaxy that places Lorraine’s liver and stomach in abnormal places. She also does not have a working spleen which leaves her susceptible to illness and requires that she take an antibiotic every day for the rest of her life. Tiny colds can hit her so hard and bigger ones can kill her, which nearly did 3 times on her most recent hospitalization for RSV. Lorraine is on her 5th week of being hospitalized since February!
Lorraine has already been hospitalized 7 times. She has had two open heart surgeries and one surgery on her diaphragm. She is expected to have at least one more open heart surgery and stomach surgery. The Street family consists of her parents, Anne and Tim, and her brothers George age 6 and Anthony age 3. They have been on a long road and yet, this is just the beginning! For the Love of Lee is hosting a live concert called Lullabies for Lorraine on May 6th, 2017 in Berwyn from 6pm-10pm with food, drinks, raffles and silent auction. We need your help to raise funds to assist the family with their financial strains that have accrued and will continue during Lorraine’s lifetime.
