This February First Friday, experience the debut of the Open Hearts Project by artist and expressive arts therapist, Heather Rose LeCompte, of Eugene, Oregon.
The Open Hearts Project was created to shine a light on mental health and human resilience. Through this ongoing series, Heather has created a collection of unique mixed-media heart portraits, each one honoring those who have faced—or are facing—mental health challenges. Every heart tells a story of our shared capacity for love, connection, understanding, acceptance, and compassion, even in moments of struggle. The project is a living, breathing collective of hope and healing. For every heart painting sold, Heather creates a new heart in its place, ensuring that the Open Hearts continue to grow, evolve, and inspire.
A portion of each sale supports mental health nonprofits in Oregon, extending the artwork's healing intention into the wider community. Each heart is a reminder that we are never alone—but part of a collective of hearts, beautifully connected through our shared human experiences.
Stay for our usual monthly open house, featuring a community potluck, as well as live painting, music, dance space, and an open easel or two for you to do some hearty creative expression of your own! Free and all ages.
