What is a relaxed performance?

A relaxed performance, put simply, is a performance that has been amended in such a way as to be sensitive to, and appreciative of, audience members who could otherwise struggle with the intensity of a regular performance. This includes but is by no means limited to, any individuals on the autistic spectrum, those with learning disabilities and those with sensory and/or communication disorders who may find sitting in a busy, enclosed space distressing.

Commonly what you will find with a relaxed performance, is that the approach and atmosphere is much more casual and laid back. More specifically for instance, the house lights tend to stay up, the sound level lowered and you are of course at liberty to leave the auditorium at any time should you so wish or require. Further to this, on the day of the relaxed performance, there will more often than not, be additional staff on hand to help seating and/or general navigation of the venue if necessary.

With all of the above said, these shows remain for everyone. All that we would ask, is for other audience members to please be mindful of it being a relaxed performance and the needs of others.

If you have any further questions or queries, please contact the Box Office.
