The action of 'South Pacific' takes place on a Polynesian island near the USA battlefront of the World War II conflict with Japan. it is a tale of love trying to succeed despite the characters being from different backgrounds. Feel the tensions in the relationship between Nurse Ensign Nellie Forbush and Emile de Becque, a French planter on the island, and predict the future of Lt. Cable's tryst with local Tonkinese girl Liat.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific is widely recognised as one of the great classics of the twentieth century, featuring well-known musical numbers including 'Some enchanted evning', 'I'm in love with a wondferful guy', 'Younger than Springtime' and the guy's favourite 'There is nothin like a dame'. Matched with a large cast, the society's 15 piece professional orchestra fully exploits this wonderful score.
