USA Dance Ohio Chapter Reviews

Excellent event and venue. Crowd size was perfect- not too many and not too few. Show was excellent. Loved the availability of water, iced tea, and coffee throughout at the stands. only issue was that they ran out of the chicken.

 Good communication

Music does not always meet the tempo and rhythm required for a dance. Not all dancers follow the correct use of the floor.

 Always Fun.

Great to be back. Floor is fantastic. Good was the best I’ve had at Kent. Tea water near table 16 was never hot enough. Music got better as the night wore on which was disappointing as many dancers had departed. Performances were the expected quality. Thank you.

Great venue, well-organized event in every respect, good music and fantastic food.I especially liked the attention to detail, for example the water on the table was always being refreshed-useful for energetic dancers!

It was nice with great dancing and a nice dinner buffet

Great music, great food and great people!

 Wonderful event .

 Beautiful church hall!!

.This was such a nice, well planned, well executed event that I am hesitant to criticize anything about it. The volunteers work very hard putting this together and are to be commended for a job well done. The venue is superb, great floor, good acoustics, adequate air conditioning. The one fault for us, the one lacking all important component, was the music---the "Dancing with the stars" influence on the choice of music that doesn't make sense to us...

They set up a great dance!

Overall, very enjoyable! My only negative feedback would be to add additional tables and limit seating to six at a table. I realize that the number of tables used affects the dance space so this might be impossible/difficult, but the table placements made access to the seating difficult for those that sat at the rear of some of the tables. It was also a bit difficult to sit with couples you wanted to sit with unless you booked a table for 8. Could this be simplified?

 Nice time.

Great event--the floor was great, Chef Zou cooked a spectacular meal, the professional performers were outstanding, and there were so many people that danced with me!

Too many line dances. Good Dj though. In two of the amateur dances, the student was out dancing the instructor. The crowd was polite though.

It was lovely. So well planned.

Great to be back again at Kent State University's Student Center Grand Ballroom! DJ Rick Popp was excellent and kept the floor filled. The professional show was outstanding and member demonstrations so much fun to watch. This was a really great time; thanks to USA Dance Ohio Chapter for putting on our dinner dances and bringing them home again to Kent State!

DJ Amy Lee's music was excellent! She always does a phenominal job selecting great ballroom dance music and arranging inspiring playlists. The pros were good, not great, and I'm concerned that our chapter is getting too "Fred Astaire centric" and student exhibitions which were more skits than demonstrations of ballroom dancing. The room temperature and humidity in the hall were good at the beginning of the dance, but quickly became stiffling

The food was poor in the music so so

Wonderful fantastic, good music, great performances.

 Great Job.

Great to see it back, enjoyed it very, as it always has been.

Wow, great event! Chef Zou's dinner and deserts were even better than the last event. He really does a great job with large events like this one and still finds time to be visable, approachable, and concerned about the quality of his meal - he's a keeper. The music is consistently great at these events and the Harvest Ball was no exception; DJ Amy is arguably the best Ballroom DJ in the state! The Slovene Center continues to improve its capabilities in hosting events!

Fabulous food (thank you, Chef Zou), great facility, and wonderful music. First time that they had big band vocalists--Jordan and Don were fantastic!

What a wonderful time! The food was fabulous--best buffet chicken ever! The music was excellent, and the dancers were gracious. As usual, the Slovene Party Center floor was just right for dancing!

 Top notch event .

Wonderful event. Very friendly atmosphere. Well organized!

The facilities were wonderful--the food was outstanding, they kept the water pitchers full, and the staff was responsive and professional. The music, people, and experience was great--kudos to Ohio Chapter 2024!

A perfect Sunday Matinee! Excellent job by all the USA board members. Thank you.

The facility was beautiful, and the staff was wonderful--they kept the water pitchers full and were extremely responsive. The food was delicious. I was able to dance a lot to the fabulous music, and the performances were delightful! This venue is a keeper!

Beautiful venue and efficient and friendly staff that went above and beyond. Floor was clean and nicely prepared for dancing albeit a little hard on the legs, feet and back. Acoustics were clear throughout the room and the music selection fantastic and consistently inspiring and danceable for all genres. DJ Amy Lee is the best ballroom DJ and event planner/organizer!! Hope you had a happy anniversary, Amy! Great job putting together this enjoyable event!

I greatly appreciated the gluten-free menu, however the chicken was very disappointing. I would say that most guests at my table did not eat the chicken. Several of us went back for the lasagna instead. Would love to see an option for guests to take a pass on the meal and come for the pro-show and dancing afterwards.

The event was fabulous. the faciity was great. The music was incredible. The food was delicious. The distance wasn't ideal :( and wish it was a wood floor. Overall had just a fabulous time.

Why are ALL of the classic ballroom standard waltzes and foxtrots that dancers loved for four decades suddenly uncool and omitted from the playlists? I know that Amy puts a lot of work into her playlists, and her dedication and tireless giving to your chapter are invaluable, but perhaps a well designed survey of all dancer's preferences would lead to a more diverse approach to constructing a playlist that inspires, motivates, and makes us all better dancers. Thank you!

Beautiful venue and efficient and friendly staff. Floor was clean and nicely prepared for dancing albeit very hard. Acoustics were clear throughout the room and the music selection fantastic and consistently inspiring and danceable for all genres. Great job putting together this enjoyable event! Suggestion: note which ballroom/entrance door to use in the instructions that accompany the flier.

A wonderful event highlighted by first class DJ playing music for all to enjoy. Dance floor was too small for the event, but dancers made things happen. The meal was ok as the chicken was tough and hard to chew. Accolades to all the volunteers who work behind the scene.

 A+ Encore.

Did not attend. Changed mind due to weather conditions.

 Big Fun! I'd go again.

Great venue, music, food and service! I would like to see dinner moved up from 5p to 4p for events scheduled in the 2p - 7p timeframe; 5p is kind of late after a lot of dancing and also provides more "cleanup" time for the staff. Also, the floor at Wagner's is always clean but very sticky. The staff needs to pay attention to the fact that ballroom dancers like a faster floor!

Love the Slovene Center--the floor was wonderful, and my knees were not sore in the morning! The food in the buffet was great--the pork tenderloin was especially tender. The professional and exhibition dances were excellent, and there were so many good dancers. Everyone I danced with said that they were having a fabulous time!

Warm, hearthfelt event with all ingredients wrapped up in a memorable package. Music was perfect, dancers were extremely sociable, food was just right, dance hall was idea, and time was sufficient to include professional performances as well as amateur performance. Kudos to the many volunteers who help shaped the wonderful event!

Lots of dancing, not enough male dancers

It was great to be with everyone. Loved seeing the students dancing with us and new people enjoying the music and food! The staff at the party were accommodating and nice. Ian's cake was great!

I really liked this event and had a great time.

Wish there were more male dancers there but did appreciate the tasty vegetarian dinner provided. And seating was quite crowded.

 .

 See above.

Food service was very disorganized and tasteless. Chicken was dry and not stuffed as described, pork was dry and over spiced, rigatoni sauce tasted like Ragu, Best part of meal was the pie. People were eating it first because the dinner was served at 5 and they were very hungry. There was no iced tea or coffee available prior to the dinner. Although they brought water to the table, it was warm. Floor was easy to dance on but small. Hard to understand person on mic.
