Ray of Light Foundation presents 2024 Shine Your Light Youth Vocal Competition. Like a lot of kids who go through childhood cancer, Raymond M. Cruz felt a need to give back. He often turned to his love of music, which he credits with helping him through treatment. He wanted to be able to perform and help people that way, and either be someone to look up to or be able to give back by raising money for the patients and families at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Raymond valiantly fought a battle with Stage 4 Ewing-like Sarcoma from 2017-2019. Throughout his battle, he was given the opportunity to share his message of hope with people through his music, from the hallways of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital to the stage of the Ryman. Ray and his mother, Blandina, started the Shine Your Light Youth Vocal Competition in 2019 where he stated to the audience that he hoped that the competition would continue for years to come. Ray’s family and friends have continued the competition in Ray’s name and with his spirit guiding him. Please join us for a wonderful cause.
