Westinghouse Arts Academy Reviews

 Westinghouse is a gift to the Pittsburgh region, providing professional-level arts-focused education in a safe and inclusive environment. The faculty, staff, students, and families are incredibly supportive and you can tell how much work and passion goes into not only preparing for their performances, but also in the way they care for the experience of the audience. Our family is so excited to have our oldest entering as a 9th grader this fall.

       Fantastic opportunity for each of the kids to be highlighted! The student leaders and Nick Lenz, Alex Boyd and all involved really understand kids and how to make them shine! Great cast, crew and orchestra! Tremendous talent and wonderful performance! Cant wait for the next show under the direction and management of Nick Lexi and Alex Boyd!

     It was a very entertaining experience! I brought a friend to see the show and she was impressed with the kids talent. She kept saying I can’t believe these are high schoolers.

 A brilliantly moving interactive performance, expertly executed from auditions to opening night in only four weeks! I went twice and sat in the main audience once, then the stage/interactive seating the second time, and it was like watching two different shows. Really incredible performances, lighting designs, costumes, choreography, etc.

   I really enjoyed Godspell. Kudos to all the staff for putting together such entertainment! It was overflowing with so much talent. It was fun to see such an updated version of this show!

   It was a privilege to see the growth and development of these students who have high interest in the arts. The enthusiasm was evident in the vocal and instrumental teachers mentoring these students. It was lovely to see original works by some of the students and the student conducting was truly appreciated. Loved it!

   I was absolutely thrilled about every single aspect of this performance! This was the most fantastic high school musical I have ever experienced. Every single cast member was so talented. There were no weak spots. I had to remind myself that I was watching a high school show, not professional! The set design and lighting were so impressive. All of the components combined to make the most moving, entertaining performance of Joseph I have ever seen. I absolutely loved it!

   The show was amazing and the kids are so talented! However, the sound balsnce between the kids microphones and the live orchestra was way off, msking it hard to hear them. A lot of the talent was shortchanged because of it.

   Amazing what young people can do.Very well done!

 Lighting was phenomenal! The actors voices were amazing and wish I could have heard them better. That’s my only complaint was the orchestra overpowered and drowned out the singing most of the show.

   Great show. Loved seeing the exuberance of the cast. The great choreography and dancing stood out .

   Very informative

   We rated it a three because we felt the students in the castle that were displaying their talents were short changed. We did not hear any announcement that students were showing their talents upstairs. The fashion show was good, as well as the food.

   It was a lovely event. The students were amazing and it was wonderful to see all of the talents put together. I think the the vocals were great but would love to see more of the dancers on stage. The seating arrangements were terrible. I paid $55 for a ticket and had seats almost in the back row while general admission/show only had seats in the front rows. How and why did that happen?

   All of the performances were fabulous! A very good night out!

   Festive and fun

   It was wonderful!

   I mean…WOW!! This show blew me away. The acting was so phenomenal by everyone. And the set, costume, lighting, and puppet designs were unbelievable!! This show is very prominent for our time. Outstanding job Westinghouse!!!

   SO GOOD. You can really tell the cast put their whole souls into playing their parts!!

   Closing night was the best performance of all. The students were so high energy and engaging and brought the audience along for the ride. The fight scenes were very well choreographed. A very professional production.

   I thought it was a great show. The students put a lot of energy into the play and it was a good mix of drama and comedy. Loved the dance numbers

  What a great collaboration of the musical departments. This is just the beginning can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings making beautiful music together!

  Overall the cast and crew did an outstanding job! There were some issues with being able to hear vocals, but I assume this had more to do with the way the sound system was arranged (We were in row D, and literally right in front of the orchestra while the speakers seemed to be off to the sides). I enjoyed the costuming, set design, and the choreography as well. The orchestra was fantastic - I saw one young person switch between like three instruments in the same number.
