The Department of Theatre presents "Big Love," written by American playwright Charles L. Mee and directed by Eleni Papaleonardos, visiting assistant professor of theatre at Denison.

 

Eleni is a teacher and theatre creator. She studied theatre at the Ohio State University, Actors’ Theatre of Louisville, and was a member of the first M.F.A. company in Contemporary Performance at Naropa University where she studied with many prominent American theatre innovators including Wendell Beavers, Stephen Wangh, Barbara Dilley, Ethelyn Friend, Meredith Month and the House, the SITI Company, MoisŽs Kaufman, Leigh Fondakowski and the Tectonic Theatre Project, and Jonathan Hart Makwaia.

Since returning to Ohio in 2006 she has taught at Denison University, Hocking College, and the Wellington School, and led workshops at the Ohio State and Otterbein Universities.

Favorite directing credits include: 33 Variations (AVLT), God’s Ear (AVLT), A Light in the Night (EAT). Favorite acting credits include: “Matilde” in The Clean House (CATCO), “Samantha Blossom” in Dead City (AVLT), “Mary Stuart” in Mary Stuart (coproduction with Actors’ Theatre of Columbus and OSU), and originating the solo role in Erik Ehn’s Sealskin, his contribution to Trepidation Nation (the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors’ Theatre of Louisville).

Eleni lives in Granville with her husband, fellow Theatre Department faculty member Mark Bryan, and their son Demos.
