This virtual performance, produced by Zandolee Media, in collaboration with local artists, has been specially crafted to illustrate the vibrant choreographic diversity of Ballet Minnesota's Artistic Director Andrew Rist over his 34 year legacy with the company. The two sections of this performance represent some of Rist's earliest works juxtaposed with his latest choreographic endeavor. River Songs, first performed in 1994, was a collaborative series performed with local singer/songwriter Charlie Maguire. A summertime favorite that was performed many times over the years was re-visited this May in Ballet Minnesota's first live performance since December 2019 and is now again part of the Minnesota Dance Festival. The second section of the virtual performance is a premier of  "Beethoven's 3rd Symphony", which presents the 2nd and 3rd movements of the work performed for an empty audience and is reflective of the introspection, depth of emotion, and growing sense of hope that our company has felt in the past year of the pandemic. We hope you enjoy this program spanning Ballet Minnesota's colorful legacy and bright future.
