Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra Reviews

What a treat! Greg and Pam are most gracious hosts! I was bowled over by the viruosity and joy expressed by the Peter Sprague Trio. The intimacy of the venue (The Lawrence Family home) and my vantage from all but sitting in the laps of the performers made for a fabulous experience. Danny Green made the little upright Kuwai come alive and was his well-rehearsed collaboration with Peter was awe-inspiring. Mack Leighton's muscular yet delicately nuanced command of the

The music was great. The musicians are extremely talented. The energy of the Baroque Era came out very well. The conductor is masterful. He did a magnificent job of shaping phrases and guiding the musicians through the intricacies of countrapuntal structure. If there were a better sound system for enabling clear articulation and adequate volume control, this would have been a 5-Star evaluation.

 We loved it.

Outstanding evening of great music and food!

Great variety of music and wonderful musicians

The music was world class, fantastic! We loved the program, and the venue let one almost sit with the orchestra. One small flaw was that the PA system didn't project the speakers voice clearly, so at times the announcements were garbled. Otherwise, a magnificent performance!

This was a magical event! The musicians and vocalists were talented professionals who clearly enjoyed bringing beautiful music to all in attendance. Thank you for the opportunity to celebrate the music of Brazil amongst such a wonderful crowd!

It was a thrill to hear the CCO merge their talents with masters of Brazilian music, Combo Elo. Emma Berggren's voice reached every heart in the audience. She is a phenomenon of vocal ability. Her performance reminded me of the beauty and perfection felt in cantatas. I look forward to the entire season of delightful music in this friendly, intimate venue.

Lovely music and stellar performances! The Vejvanovsky Trumpet Sonata was a sweet palate cleanser which was aptly followed by the Corelli Concerto with dueling violins (Gregory Lawrence and Christian Gonzalez) forming a masterful duality of virtuosity.

 Amazing!

What a delight. The music was beautiful. The orchestra members brought the audience right into the music. It was enchanting.

Simply beatiful sound of strings! MC by two orchestra members was excellent also.

 Spectacular!

A splendid performance by talented and enthusiastic musicians. Such a pleasure! Thank you!

Lovely and warm performance spanning several styles and techniques, in the comfort of your living room.

upright bass thrilled me the way only that instrument can. Peter Sprague's compositions were great: obviously inspired by a host of greats from the jazz repertoire of the 50's and 60's, not least of which, Wes Montgomery, his delicate yet definitive touch was a delight to hear. The Witchita Lineman was great, as were the Beatles covers.

It was great sized intimate venue with the ability to see the entire orchestra and enjoy a beautiful church that went well with Bach's history with the church.

Parking was good, Acoustics were very good for this performance.

The acoustics in the church, the proximity to the orchestra, and the wonderful performance by the orchestra made the concert very enjoyable.

So lovely to hear such high caliber musicians in an intimate setting. Good reminder of the best of our humanity.

 Beautiful evening program.

We loved taking our kids to hear CCO. We all felt welcome and enjoyed the beautiful music in a beautiful setting. Thank you for bringing these high quality opportunities to our community.

I enjoyed the intimacy of the setting, the music selection, and the talented musicianship. However, the audience felt a bit too close to the performers. I would recommend removing at least the first row—if not the first two rows—to create more space and allow for a better overall sound experience.

Strings Thru Time was wonderful! The performance level is always surprisingly high with CCO. I also loved the repertoire choices to distinguish each musical era.

 Very fun and diverse program

 Outstanding!

The event was beautiful, unique and unforgettable! My mom and i are Brazilians and we absolutely loved the concert. Beautiful music and very well organized . Thank you for an amazing performance!

Another wonderful concert with outstanding musicians.

The Johann Sebastian Bach pieces were fantastic! Recently, if I may be personal, my mother underwent a weeks-long coma from which she roused by proclaiming, in crisp tones, "Johann Sebastian Bach!" I was reminded of her and her bravery in the face of death by the masterful performance of his cantata, "Ich Habe Genung." Christian Gonzalez is a god of violins!

Loved it. The quality of musicians is truly impressive.

Was a good event overall, but we felt it was a bit disorganized at the entrance/ticketing.

See above, nicely organized and very enjoyable since it wasn't a large venue, comfortable seating and good acustics.

An amazing array of music by top notch musicians. It was superb.

A gorgeous location and the treat of an intimate concert

 Fabulous, uplifting concert!

Lovely location! Musicians were friendly as well as talented. I enjoyed talking with several of them.
