In this first edition of THE CINEMA CLUB, we celebrate Italian cinema with none other than Federico Fellini. His second film explores the fear of creative block and the struggle to follow great success. 8½ reflects Fellini’s own journey after La Dolce Vita, capturing his anxiety of running out of grandeur. Starring Marcello Mastroianni (as the director without ideas), Claudia Cardinale (the Hollywood star), and Anouk Aimée (the lover), it is a masterpiece of self-reflection. the film won Fellini an Oscar for best foreign film in 1964, giving him credit for exploring his inner demons.
