In Chinese art, orchids represent elegance, grace, and purity—making them one of the most iconic subjects to paint. Guided step-by-step by a professional LingNan style brush painter, you’ll learn the fundamental brush techniques needed to recreate the delicate petals and flowing leaves of orchids.
A Rare Opportunity to Learn LingNan Style Art
What makes this workshop truly special is the painting style itself. The LingNan style is renowned for its vibrant, expressive colors, expressive "boneless" techniques (painting without heavy dark outlines), and seamless blending of traditional Eastern brushwork with realistic light and form. It is a rare art form to learn outside of Asia, with only a handful of specialized LingNan painters practicing and teaching in the UK!
Guided step-by-step by our professional LingNan painter, you’ll learn fundamental brush techniques needed to recreate delicate orchid petals and flowing leaves. No prior painting experience is required—this evening is all about mastering a new skill, enjoying a drink, and meeting friendly people in a cozy atmosphere!

7:30pm - Warm welcome & Ling-Nan style Introductions
8:00pm - Essential Techniques Explained
8:30pm - Step-by-Step Painting exercise
9:00pm - Short break: feel free to use this time to refill your drinks and mingle with others
10:00pm - End of the painting workshop. We don't have a hard stop so if you need a little bit more time to finish your piece or to chat please feel free 😊
Important Notes:
- Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to leave yourself some start time to order your drinks and mingle!
- We recommend you wear dark / coloured clothing, something you're comfortable in and wouldn't mind getting a little paint on.
