By motorways, the fast way
If choosing to travel on the A38, you need to leave at the junction signposted to Totnes taking the A384 to Totnes. On reaching Totnes turn right at major set of traffic lights following signs to Dartmouth - distance of approximately 12 miles.
From the east you would normally come down the M5 and decide on your final route at Exeter. The A303 is picturesque but often time consuming, better avoid it. The ferry in June/July/August can have a 1 hour wait from 8:30AM until 4:00PM, it is the ultimate way to arrive though! From the west take the A30/A38 and turn off at Buckfastleigh.
By car & ferry, the romantic way to enter Dartmouth
