Dear friends and family,

As many of you know, I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Anyone that knows me also knows that I love my little island! It is a beautiful place filled with happy, warm, loving and humble people. It is also where all my childhood memories were created and where Peter and I got married.

Hurricane Maria has completely devastated Puerto Rico. It is now more than four weeks after the hurricane hit and most of the 3.5 million Americans on the island are still with no power or water. Maria destroyed many roads and bridges, wiped out 80% of farmers crops, took many people's homes...leaving behind horrible living conditions for its residents, especially those who didn't have a lot to begin with. Many lost everything. Recently, lines of desperate people looking for water have been seen filling up from a hazardous water site in Dorado. My family and friends on the island are happy to be alive but their accounts of everyday life are unreal. I am very afraid of any getting sick. The few hospitals that are operating are crowded and running on generators. Many schools have yet to re-open. This is not the island I grew up on.

I ask that you please help me re-build the island with a donation. I will make sure that 100% of the money raised will go to helping re-build Puerto Rico. I am so touched that MBRE Healthcare is matching donations up to $50,000. We are very much committed to helping get Puerto Rico back on its feet!

I thank you from the bottom of my heart. No donation is too small and all will be extremely appreciated.

Sincerely,

Sofia Westmeyer
