Metropolitan Playhouse Reviews

 Wonderful !!

Such a gem of a theatre in the heart of the Lower East Side! They really make the best of this little space with every little detail in bringing the stories to life with the set, costumes, lighting, sounds, etc. Love the affordable wines and snacks etc.

The acting was incredible. Particularly the actress playing Amanda

Thoroughly enjoyable. Entertaining dialog and superb acting

I was very happy to see that after a two year absence, the Metropolitan is back in full force. It always prided itself on mounting stellar productions of often forgotten plays, and this one's no exception. The female roles were especially well cast -- Elisabeth Ahrens was perfect as the title character. The costumes were especially good.

It is such a gift to attend a performance at Metropolitan Playhouse.

The bathrooms need to be renovated

 Charming!

Thank you for bringing this long buried gem to life !

It's a fantastic production with talented cast and crew! The story is timeless as the themes are still relevant today. Terrific experience and so nice to be back in the theatres in person. Thank you for putting this on!

One drawback. The person playing the mermaid was filling in and had to perform using the script. This was disappointing and a distraction.

you can’t beat the seating. Very enjoyable play - superbly done

I'm not sure why MP chose to mount this play. I found it talky, repetitive and tedious. It was also frustrating -- it's obvious from the start what the title character is up to. Yet everyone is oblivious except for Melville -- and he seems unwilling to do anything about it. And Chatteris is so prone to fall under her spell from the start that there is little suspense. It's not a question of will he or won't he but how long? Two and a half hours, that's what!

The Sea Lady is another wonderful production. The actors are always brilliant. And, I think the set for this show is my favorite of all time. .

I love it. It was amazing my first play but wouldn’t be my last!

 Wonderful!!!!!
