INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: BAILEY MCCULLY
This year, we're thrilled to have the inimitable Bailey McCully joining us for a weekend full of hauntingly inspiring workshops! Bailey has learned, taught, collaborated, and performed across North America and internationally. While traveling and dancing with new communities is a wonderful part of the job, Bailey happily calls Bellingham, Washington home where she teaches dance to movers of all ages. Bailey always aims to create a class culture in which students feel safe to try, fail, and learn to become the best dancers they can be. Dancing with a partner or dancing solo, Bailey radiates the joy of jazz with every step.
Bailey will teach 3 intermediate/advanced classes on Saturday, and two all-levels classes on Sunday. This year, we'll also have a beginner track on Saturday, taught by our very own Teaching Coordinator, Kristine Hansen, and co-founder of Swing Dance Vegas, Mark Brunton! This is a great weekend to bring your friends who want to dive into the world of Lindy Hop.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED CLASSES
Saturday, October 24th at Jordance Studios
11:30 AM - 12:20 PM - Spooky Scary Skeletons: an anatomical approach to connection. What muscles do you use to connect, communicate, and receive information? Well take a somewhat anatomical approach to the details of how to better connect with both yourself and your partner.
12:30 PM - 1:20 PM - Find Your Something: This class explores how to practice in a way that actually supports improvement and discovery. The focus is on how to investigate your own movement, how to use what you already know to create and be creative, and practical tools and frameworks for how to practice.
1:30 PM - 2:20 PM - Bop it, Twist it, Stretch it: This class looks at familiar shapes and how we can alter the footwork, timing, or geography to create space for play. Building on connection ideas but in open shapes, this class focuses on how follows can influence a shape, how leads can be open to changes while in motion, and how we can dance more collaboratively.
BEGINNER CLASSES - LINDY HOP CRASH COURSE
Saturday, October 24th at Jordance Studios

These classes build upon each other, so whether you're still working on making your swing outs feel good or you've never heard the word 'swing out' before now, this track is for you!
11:30 AM - 12:20 PM - Building the Basics: This class explores how to build connection with the music you're dancing to and the person you're dancing with. You'll walk out confident in your ability to connect and with all the skills you need to have a great night of social dancing.
12:30 PM - 1:20 PM - Swing Out Deep Dive: At the foundation of Lindy Hop, you'll find swing outs! During this hour, you'll learn everything from the footwork to the tips and tricks that make this classic move feel delightful and musical.
1:30 PM - 2:20 PM - Individualizing Your Dancing: Individuality is an integral part of Black American culture and this historic dance, and want you to ambrace the full range of expression only you can bring to the floor. We'll spend this last hour experimenting with ways to add individuality and personality to our dancing by connecting our bodies to the music.
ALL-LEVELS CLASSES
11:30 AM - 12:20 PM - Jazz as Musical Interaction: This class seeks to examine how we can show up and be present as a whole human, and invite others to do the same. How can we create space for expression without creating a vacuum? How can we create space via courageously offering something first? And how can we offer artistic connection in a way that feels internally supported? We’ll play with the art of responding, inviting, and offering ideas.
12:30 PM - 1:20 PM - Swivel Bootcamp: This class is all about swivels and finding your personal touch and style for your swivels. The focus will be on the prep, quality of movement, and the do's and don't's of how to support someone's fabulous swivels!
