The Lion in Winter
6th to 9th March 2019
The Lion in Winter charts all the plotting and intrigue between King Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, their three surviving sons, and King Philip II of France.
The aim is to sort out a successor to the English throne, and the result is back stabbing, spying, double crossing, and rampant infidelity – a typical family Christmas - that is, for the Plantagenets!
It’s a fast paced, witty piece of drama – ‘Dynasty’ for the Middle Ages !
It was famously filmed in 1968 starring Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn.
